Day 4 and Day 5

Bryan had to go to class on Monday (day 4), so I did things by myself. I went back to the American History Museum to see some things that I'd wanted to see that I'd missed before. I walked by Ford's Theatre and the house where Lincoln died. I went to Madame Tussauds's wax museum (possibly my fav part of the trip!) and I went to souvenir shops for presents. Good times!! I can't remember the last time I spent a day by myself doing exactly what I wanted to do!! That night, we went out for a nice dinner to celebrate our anniversary.

I am not going to do a seperate post for Day 5. I didn't take a single picture. I went to the mall, walked around, bought Lily a dress on sale from Hanna Andersson (on of my fav catalogs) and went to see a movie by myself. I've never seen a movie alone before and I'm here to report it's exactly the same as seeing a movie with someone else. I flew home that night. The trip was just amazing! So nice to get away for a few days!

Day 3--At Night

That night we went to eat with Brooke and Paul and some of their friends and then back to their apartment, which was super cute. We played some Rock Band. You should all be disappointed you weren't there to hear me sing. I have the voice of an angel.

Many of you may know about my fear/dislike/creeped-out-ness I have of talking dogs. One of Brooke's dogs says "I love you". Yikes. The dog is pretty cute though. Especially with his cone!

Day 3

During the day, we took a long tour of DC and got out at numerous memorials and other stops. It was fun and VERY informative.

FDR Memorial. This was very big in that there were a lot of parts, a lot to see, very well planned and very touching.

The Lincoln Memorial. We learned that usually memorials take about 40 years from idea to it actually being built.

The World War II Memorial. In the warmer months, there are fountains going and I've been told it's very beautiful.

A war protestor who literally has been living here for years and says she'll stay until there isn't a single nuclear weapon left in the world.

The White House-- a lot of people apparently think this is the back, but they actually call it the north entrance and the rounded part is on the south entrance. I tried to take a White House tour, but you have to obtain permission from your congress-person weeks ahead of time!

This was a celebration in front of the White House--I have no idea what they were celebrating because their signs were in a language I didn't know. There was also a protest going on in front of the White House---don't we live in a great country!?!

Day 2

We went to the Air and Space Museum, the Museum of Natural History, and the Museum of American History. We saw 2 IMAX movies, including one that was 3D--an Under the Sea one that was very cool! We saw so much cool stuff, but could have spent a couple weeks in these 3 museums alone!
