Caroliney's First Taste of Solids

This morning, while Lily and Bryan are enjoying themselves at Six Flags, I decided to try and give Caroline her first "solid" food...the dreaded rice cereal!! She wasn't too enthralled with it and kept spitting it out. I tried it both her formula and with water...but neither was a big hit. We'll have to keep on trying!

Videos from the Pool

We are planning on getting Lily swimming lessons, but haven't signed her up yet and so we are still using the floaties to keep her safe until she gets the lessons.

Pool Daze and 4 month Stats

We have literally been going to the pool every day. Lily loves the pool--LOVES it!! Going is a very different experience this summer as opposed to last summer. It's a lot more to juggle 2 kids than just to take 1. I have figured out that if it is just me and Lily wears her floaties and Caroliney rides in her boat, we can all go in the big pool and of course, it's easy in the baby pool...only that's not quite where Lily always wants to be. She loves the water and has no fear about it. She will jump right on in, floaties or not, and in fact, I had to save her from the Gower pool when we went with my sister's family and she jumped in the big pool with no floaties...luckily I was able to lay down on the cement and reach down low enough to grab her and didn't actually have to jump in since I was fully clothed. Caroliney loves her boat and rides in it all layed back like she's Biggie Smalls in his infamous interview. Lily loves her floaties and I am sad to say they survived from last year--I'm only sad about that fact because WalMart has some insanely cute ruffled floaties for girls for only $5 that I would love to buy for her but I just can't justify since we still have 2 working pairs! I love the people watching at the pool...the women who really come to tan and are sort of annoyed by the craziness that the pool brings out in kids, the mommies with stretch marks in string bikinis, or the teenage nannies with tattoos. Today, there was a whole group of Stepford wives there wearing designer sunglasses and fancy bathing suits and had kids with perfect hair and all matching floaties--one of them was even wearing the ruffled arm floaties that I wanted for Lily. The women seemed fine though and Lily loved one of the little girls with perfect hair, and she loved Lily back. They even went to the pottie together, which is obviously the sign of true girl bonding.

This morning at the pool, Caroliney was all tuckered out and needed a little nap. She works hard what with the bottle drinking and the playing and looking at stuff.

Lily this morning at the pool. She wouldn't quit talking long enough for me to get a good shot. The girl's a talker!! I wonder where she learned to do that...
Lily and Daddy tonite at the pool. Of course, Daddy is a lot more fun in the pool than Mommy is.

While Lily and Daddy played in the pool tonite, Caroliney and I hung out by the side of the pool and watched them. She had her four month check-up today, which meant shots!! Poor thing. She is doing great--right on track for her development, which means she is starting to put everything in her mouth. She weighs 15 lbs 1 oz, which is in the 71st percentile and is 25 inches long, which is in the 68th percentile. Her head circumference is 16 3/4 inc, which is in the 82nd percentile--I'm hoping we're going to have another lolly-pop!!

Beach Trip 2010!!!

So...we went to Greenville for several days and the beach for (almost) a week and all I got was this lousy t-shirt. That's my way of saying I didn't take any pictures...well hardly any. I wish I could say that I had planned this ahead, that I wanted to be a Mommy who enjoyed the moment instead of whipping out my camera and made the moment about getting a picture. That I wanted to just live in it and be in it and not have to record everything. And I did do those things. And I enjoyed doing them. I loved just enjoying my sweet daughters and playing with them without taking pictures all week. However, I am also a very sad Mommy who has no pictures of Caroline's first beach trip...her first First Week if you are from G-ville. I, like everyone, get bummed coming home from vacation and looking at pictures always cheers me up. But, oh well, what's done is done!!

Here's how it all went down (if you are interested in a quick synopsis). We went to G-ville on Wednesday and my lovely friend Paige, who takes such beautiful pictures, came over Thursday morning to take some family pictures. She happened to be in Greenville that day only before she embarked on her wedding trip to Iowa.

I'm going to save the family pictures to be used for cards or whatnot, but I'll share some of my favorite, other shots.

Friday night was of course the party at my sister's house and we left Saturday morning for Litchfield. We always divide up the cars and it seems as though my sister and I get the short end of the stick as we ride in my sister's van with Anna, Lily, David, and Caroliney. Bryan and Reg ride down with Austin only! My sister and I have fun and the whole point of doing it that way is that the kids distract each other--the trip down was perfect!! No whining from the 3 year olds and hardly any crying from the 4 month old--Big Girl Anna entertained her half of the way and I got to ride shotgun half the trip!! The week at the beach was perfect--great weather, great fun! Lily loved the beach and the waves and the water. She was such a good girl all week. Caroline was not so big on the beach--she didn't like the breeze or the sunshine. My family was wonderful to stay at the house with her some so that I did get to spend some of the time on the beach with Lily. It was just a great relaxing week...and here are the only pictures I took...well, Bryan actually took them, to be honest.
